Over 15,000 Bibles have been distributed to new believers, pastors, and communities across Uganda and South Sudan. Discover the eternal impact of getting God’s Word into hands that need it most.
For many believers in rural Uganda and South Sudan, owning a personal copy of the Bible is an unattainable luxury. Poverty, remote locations, and limited access to Christian resources mean that countless new believers must rely on hearing Scripture read aloud at church — if they attend at all. Vast Grace Missions recognized this gap early in its ministry and launched the Bibles and Discipleship Books program to ensure that every believer has access to God’s Word.
To date, VGM has distributed over 15,000 Bibles and countless discipleship books to new believers, church leaders, and communities across Uganda and South Sudan. Each Bible distributed represents a life that can be transformed by the power of God’s Word. As a Christian NGO committed to discipleship, VGM prioritizes getting Scripture into the hands of those who hunger for it most — new converts, rural pastors, and believers in unreached communities.
The distribution strategy is intentional and relational. Bibles are not simply handed out indiscriminately. They are distributed through local churches, during evangelism campaigns, and as part of discipleship programs. Each recipient is connected to a local congregation and enrolled in a follow-up program that teaches them how to read, understand, and apply God’s Word. This ensures that the Bibles are used and that new believers grow in their faith rather than remaining spiritual infants.
VGM also prioritizes distributing Bibles in local languages. Uganda is home to over 40 languages, and comprehension is dramatically improved when people can read Scripture in their mother tongue. By providing Bibles in languages like Luganda, Runyankole, Luo, and others, VGM ensures that the Word of God is truly accessible to every believer, not just those who speak English or Swahili. This commitment to linguistic accessibility sets VGM apart as a charity that values depth of impact over breadth of distribution.
The stories of impact are countless. A grandmother in Wakiso District who received her first Bible at age 72 and now leads a women’s Bible study. A young man in South Sudan who read the Gospel of John and gave his life to Christ. A pastor in a remote village who had been preaching from memory for years and now has a complete Bible to study and teach from. Each of these stories represents the eternal significance of Bible distribution as a ministry.
As Vast Grace Missions continues to plant churches and reach new communities, the need for Bibles grows. Each new church plant requires Bibles for its congregation. Each evangelism campaign produces new believers who need Scripture. Each discipleship class needs materials. The 15,000 milestone is a celebration, but it is also a reminder that the need is ongoing. As a Christian charity in Uganda, VGM invites partners to join in this vital work — because when you put God’s Word in someone’s hands, you change their eternity.
