How the Gospel is Transforming Communities in Uganda

Through church planting and evangelism, Vast Grace Missions is bringing lasting spiritual and social transformation to communities across Uganda and South Sudan.

Across Uganda and South Sudan, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is doing more than saving souls — it is transforming entire communities. Vast Grace Missions (VGM), a Christian NGO founded in 2010, has witnessed firsthand how the power of God’s Word brings hope to the hopeless and restoration to the broken. From the bustling villages of Wakiso District to the remote reaches of South Sudan, VGM’s church planting and evangelism efforts are bearing fruit that endures.

Church planting is at the heart of VGM’s mission strategy. Over the past 15 years, the organization has planted more than 160 churches across Uganda and South Sudan. Each church serves not only as a place of worship but as a community hub where people receive spiritual nourishment, practical support, and compassionate care. The process begins with identifying unreached areas, training local church planters through the Christian Training Centre (CTC), and establishing worship gatherings that grow into thriving congregations.

Evangelism campaigns and crusades have resulted in thousands of salvations and baptisms. In 2025 alone, VGM witnessed record numbers of people coming to faith in Christ. These new believers are immediately connected to local churches and enrolled in discipleship programs, ensuring that their spiritual journey continues well beyond the crusade event. This follow-up model is what sets VGM apart as a charity committed to long-term impact rather than one-time events.

The transformation goes beyond spiritual metrics. In communities where VGM has planted churches, there is a noticeable decline in substance abuse, domestic violence, and crime. Families are being restored, children are returning to school, and communities are working together for the common good. The Gospel changes hearts, and changed hearts change communities. This holistic approach to ministry — addressing both spiritual and social needs — is the hallmark of VGM’s work as a Christian NGO in Uganda.

Training is critical to sustainability. Through the CTC program, VGM equips pastors and church leaders with theological education, leadership skills, and practical ministry tools. Graduates of the CTC go on to lead churches, mentor new believers, and multiply the impact of the Gospel in their communities. More than 17 motorcycles have been provided to pastors, enabling them to reach remote villages and care for their congregations effectively.

The story of the Gospel transforming communities in Uganda is still being written. With each new church planted, each soul saved, and each community uplifted, Vast Grace Missions continues to prove that the message of Christ is the most powerful catalyst for lasting change. As a registered charity and NGO, VGM invites partners from around the world to join in this transformative mission — because together, we can reach the unreached and disciple one at a time.
